The long-awaited decision by the Secretary of State on the Appeal for the development of a new school in Effingham was released on 22nd March. The appeal was allowed which grants planning permission, subject to conditions.
This lengthy process raised many strongly opposing views both in Bookham and in Effingham. The BRA supported the case for a new school especially as the single largest cohort of children at The Howard come from Bookham. We had serious reservations about the number of houses that had to be built to fund this development. Now we understand that Effingham Parish Council and Guildford Borough Council are studying the full Secretary of State document (which can be seen at the link below). After deliberation these organisations may challenge the decision by calling for a Judicial Review. We understand that the decision to seek a Judicial Review will take at least three weeks.
