January 23rd 2016 – Surrey County Council Bus Consultation up-date.
The only north Mole Valley bus service being reviewed is the 516 from Epsom, via Leatherhead, Headley, Box Hill to Dorking. Should a Bookham resident use this bus or know anyone who does and wish to comment please can you obtain the Consultation document from a library, council office, or, download the detail online. Unfortunately, the feedback form is not part of the download but there is an online version of the form that can be completed.
Please can Bookhams’ bus users be ready to complete SCC’s 2nd Bus Consultation which commences on the 18th January 2016 where they hope to save another £1m to realise their overall target of £2m. We will post more information when we receive it.
Unfortunately, from the 1st September Buses Excetera increased their fares. Regrettably from the 17th October 2015 Buses Excetera will withdraw the 489 Bookham station to Leatherhead Tesco service and the 477 Banstead, via Epsom, Ashtead, Leatherhead, Bookham (A246) to Guildford service due to lack of passengers making both routes unviable. Also, from the 17th October 2015 Bookham’s 479 bus service will be enhanced to operate nearly every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday with no change to it’s Sunday service. It really matters that we continue to use this Buses Excetera service as otherwise we shall loose that too. The revised timetables will be issued in due course.
We have been advised that the fares had increased by 33%. For those passengers who buy return tickets these are still very good value as they cost much less than two single tickets. The cost of weekly season tickets have increased from £20 to £27.
Finally, Chatterbus 2 from Leatherhead, via Cobham to Brooklands has been extended to Weybridge. But users of this service should be aware that from the 19th September 2015 the first service will leave Fetcham at the later time of 10:58, with the only other service at 15:16. The times of the two return services too have changed.
